What I Know Now 
No Comments This is a catchup post for days 4 through 6 of 2010′s “365 Days of What I Know Now.”
A failure to communicate is at the root of all social problems. Unwillingness to communicate also counts.
Insecurity sits behind all negative criticism. Selfishness is a form of insecurity.
Listening with all your heart and mind produces incredible results.
What I Know Now 2 Comments These 365 days of (something) posts are pretty popular. It’s January 19th, 2010, so I’m a bit behind, but I’ve decided to do “365 days of what I know now,” as in “If I only knew then what I know now.”
The idea came from seeing Stacey’s 365 days of self-portraits, and then thinking of my usualstory.com aspirations to write personal histories of people between 30 and 50 in an effort to publish an “If I Knew Then What I Know Now” compilation for people to read, ponder, and learn from.
I’ll play catch-up by posting 2 or 3 things a day until I get to the current day.
Laughing derisively at a child’s questions is extremely damaging, one way or another.
Timid people try to impress their fears on others to justify their own feelings of anxiety. (It’s easy enough to find your own fears–you don’t need to take on anyone else’s!)
The more you “protect” the young from real life, the more recklessly they will throw themselves into the fray once they have escaped your reach.
