Mousecapades and time to focus

Heading east through the snow

Over the river and through the woods, to hell we go.

It totally snowed today.

We’ve been having a mouse problem at home again, and in a tired stupor I decided to put out some mouse traps before going to bed. Leigh had been cleaning up after the mice and hearing some industrious chewing and thumping at night, so I figured we needed to get these guys out of here.

Leigh called me this morning at work, though, as it seems a little mouse got the tip of his nose and a bit of a paw caught in a trap by the stove. Xander carried this to Leigh, and then Leigh noticed the little fella was still barely alive.

Long story short, the mouse is now in our extra rat cage, and we’re hoping he’ll nurse back to health. I think he’s still in shock tonight, so we’ll see how things are in the morning.

Sometimes you have to dig deeper to find out what you really want. I didn’t really want to hurt the mouse. I just wanted him to stop pooping in my house and chewing on my cabinets. Setting out the mouse traps was just the way I’m used to dealing with mice. I think we’ll be using those live traps from now on, which better suit what we really want to happen with the mice.

Elvis stays warm inside

Elvis says it's cold outside, baby.

As far as time to focus goes, I set out some priorities today. WordPressCity.com is where most of my energy is going to go for some time, I decided. I’ve distracted myself with other projects such as usualstory.com and helptheman.com, but decided WordPress City needs to get the focus right now.

My other projects are fun and have potential, but I’ve made the mistake in the past of not focusing, of spreading myself too thin to really do any good on any one project.

Okay, that’s all I have to say about that.
